Teaching and Mentorship
After some time in the industry, I was asked by Think Tank to return as a Mentor, and to spearhead a new second-semester class focused around creating Environments for Games. Prior to that, their Environment program was generally focused around creating Environments for Film. The class I designed and taught was structured around teaching students how to produce assets in a manner that took game development into account. Collision, Optimization, and working closely with Unreal and its Art-related systems like Lighting and Shading were all parts of the course. The course was a resounding success, and is still taught to this day. All Environments above were from students I worked closely with through the Environment for Games class and their following Mentorship semester, where they produce their demo reels under guidance from one or two Mentors. I am very proud to have had a part in their education.
My Old Environment Art Demo Reel
This was the Environment Art Demo Reel I produced from my time as a student at Think Tank from 2012 to 2013.
